For those of you unsure about who or what the Monkey is – join the club – nobody really knows but what we are interested in is how to make the most of them if they can be of use to us. The first step in this process is to have a joint understanding of what it is we mean when we say the monkey. This exercise is the first in the book and in the challenge it provides you with the opportunity to experience their presence and their input. By the end of this session you will be able to recognise the input of your Monkey.
Just recognising these thoughts as separate, potentially ‘not yours’ can help us make sense of the ‘internal noise’ and begin to move on towards a better experience.
The remainder of the book / challenge takes you step by step from this initial experience to reengineering a relationship that helps you live thrive you want to live and can transform any pursuit that requires a quieter mind. Mindfulness or your meditation practice is easier with less internal distraction.
