MAS for Challenge participants

MAS — Monkey Alignment Survey

The MAS is your regular snapshot during the 12 Week Challenge.

You’ll complete it once before you begin and then again each week. Keep each total in your MAS Score Record so that, by the end of the Challenge, you have a series of scores rather than a single result.

There are 42 statements, each scored from 0 to 10.

0 means no, or not at all.
10 means yes, or completely.

There is no pass or fail, and there is no score you are supposed to achieve.

The useful question is simply:

How does this seem to me today?

Try not to overthink the answers. Go with your first honest response — what seems true now, rather than what you think ought to be true.

If you find yourself between two numbers, go with your gut, your instinct, or whichever number appeared first.

One score is a snapshot.

Taken week by week, your scores begin to give you a series of snapshots that you can look at alongside what you are actually noticing between you and your Monkey as the Challenge develops.

The 42 statements should take less than ten minutes.

When you have finished, record your total in your MAS Score Record and continue with the Challenge from there.

Thanks for completing this week’s MAS.

Your score is not a grade and there is no particular result you are trying to reach.

It is simply another snapshot of how things seem to you at this point in the Challenge.

Record your total in your MAS Score Record alongside your previous scores.

Over the weeks you will begin to build your own record of what, if anything, appears to be changing.

The numbers are useful, but they are only part of the picture. You may also want to notice what is happening in everyday life — what you hear from your Monkey, how the two of you respond to one another, and what seems different from a few weeks ago.

Then return to the Challenge and continue from where you left off.
